L-Methionine for Warts
What is L-methionine?
L-methionine is an essential amino acid, meaning your body needs it but can’t make it—you have to get it from food or supplements.
Some small studies suggest that taking 500 mg twice a day for 4–6 weeks may help clear warts. It’s affordable, generally safe, and easy to try.
Is L-methionine Safe?
L-methionine is generally considered safe and nontoxic. Poison Control does not list a known overdose level. There are no pregnancy risks listed on the pregnancy risk hotline, and it’s not contraindicated in people with weakened immune systems.
Important: Do not take L-methionine if you have liver disease, as it may worsen liver function.
Does L-methionine interact with medications?
Yes. L-methionine may reduce the effectiveness of L-Dopa, a medicine used to treat Parkinson’s disease. If you take L-Dopa, talk to your doctor before using L-methionine.
There are no other well-known interactions, but always check with your healthcare provider if you’re on multiple medications.
