My guest today ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together and give a nice warm welcome to my boy Louis Carideo, right?
Louis Carideo: Yes! You’re close. Louis Carideo. But it’s ok, darling. That’s okay. I’m Cuban. I like the flair! That’s all good.
Sonia Gomez: Okay, first of all, I had to ask the question, do you happen to own a comedy club? You told me no. And I do not agree because you’re already funny. I’ve laughed 12 times since I’ve been here. Tell me a little bit from the horse’s mouth. Who are you? Where are you from? What are you up to?
Louis Carideo: Well, my name is Louis Anthony Carideo. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, famous Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m 60 years of age. And I’ve been here all my life. And I’ve been a cannabis activist for a long time. I’ll just put it that way.
Sonia Gomez: Longer than everyone else has been activating for
Louis Carideo: I don’t believe I’m 60 years old. I don’t feel 60, and people say I don’t look 60. I know I don’t act 60, and I’m going to let you know something. I am going to tell everyone out there on the wire right now. You all I’m Gonna dedicate this segment and this to CBD. This is not snake oil folks; this is the real shit. This is real stuff. I’m not, my set, I just keep it real. There’s no use me sugar-coating damn thing here.
Sonia Gomez: I love it. I love it. I cannot wait to get the raw dog of this whole thing and your experience which is really cool. When my minions were stalking you and we were figuring out like who’s gonna be somebody really cool to bring on the show. We were really excited to find out that you have a club in Las Vegas where you seen CBD, listen to comedy have a really cool environment to kick back, which I totally want to visit the next time I come back. Tell me a little bit about your shop there.
The Drip LV
Louis Carideo: Well, the shop here we opened up around Valentine’s last year. It’s the first CBD comedy club or lounge in the US. We know Vegas was born on comedy, and I was born and raised here. So what a better way to kick it off to start at my stage. Before you go hit the big stage, you see. So that’s kind of my deal with that and the thing is being in the CBD industry, combining both them together. It’s, I call myself the Starbucks CBD comedy store, because instead of serving coffee, I’m serving CBD.
Sonia Gomez: I love it. So what can somebody expect from when they come into your place like what kind of environment are experienced?
Louis Carideo: Well first the vibe you get in my shop is opposite than a dispensary, opposite than a doctor’s office. It’s a very laid back chilled. You never know what’s going to go on, when you walk in my shop. When you walk in my shop, meaning I could be rapping about CBD I could be live on the wire. I’m a very upbeat, positive person and I continuously preach about CBD and positivity throughout the day, and the evening and the day and evening. That’s kind of what it’s about.
The best way to say it is, the hardest thing between the THC and the CBD is everybody wants to get stoned. Everybody wants to get mellow or get high or get, but you see people just don’t know about CBD you see. So there’s a complete the on top of me being funny naturally. It’s an education that goes along with it. So what I do is I just put my own flair to the education. I don’t hide it, I just keep it very raw and real. I mean, like in your face after we have you ever seen any of my lives. That’s what you can expect when you come here. A big hug and a big welcome. And when you leave, you usually end up with more than what you know, I was give more than I should. I just want to get people to know about that CBD.
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, I love it. Well, um, you are, I mean, if anybody is Las Vegas, your Las Vegas. So tell me a little bit about your roots in this day. They’re being born.
Louis Carideo: You know what, I will share a couple things with a lot of people don’t know this Louis but let me break this down to you. I am a born and raised here. September 2 1959. Coincidentally, that’s kind of when the Flamingo was opened. And that’s why I come into play. My mom actually was a living legend put everybody to work in this town, believe it or not, from the front end to the back end. She just died last year, by the way. I’m so sad and I wish I could have dosed here even more.
I was dosing anyway CBD baby, right and her deathbed in front of my whole family there was looking at me crazy as I was taking up a pen and taking the biggest hit I could take and it was mouth to mouth thing to her. I swear to you, I’m not kidding you. My family looking like I was crazy. I know wasn’t good. But listen to me. She knew it was me because it was cannabis and THC. I was trying everything you follow him saying to help her. But even though she couldn’t talk, she could smile, you following what I’m saying?
Sonia Gomez: Yeah.
Louis Carideo: As you should know with Big Daddy, but I started out here at 1958. My father opened up the Flamingo in 1958. If you are familiar with [inaudible] Desi Arnaz, my daddy was a splitting image for Desi Arnaz and opened up in 1958. It’s called the Bubba Lu show he is a Cuban drummer, and he just mimicked. And now they do that to this day here. He was there, the original one and 1958 through the years. That’s how I ended up. I’ve seen this town grow from, maybe you could be thrown and be put in the penitentiary for a seat in Nevada. Okay, that’s not a joke. And you haven’t got this really chat with me yet. But as we go in and you start asking these questions, I was the first person in this town to have a legal Co-Op or dispensary in this town, just for these people to come and shut it down.
Hit me with five charges. That’s enough to put you away for five lifetimes. I told him to blast themselves because they gave me a license. Literally a license. Okay, I just didn’t get up. Some medical cannabis decided to rent a place and sell it. The state gave me a license before they even wrote the laws honey, in 2008, Louis Carideo was the first person to have a rancher indicator I hadn’t shot. There should be two Bentley’s sitting in front of my shop right now. Not joking, not joking. They use Louis as the poster child, and that’s what pushed me into the cannabis, to the CBD. Because it pushed me so hard out of the THC industry, they thought that was going to push me out completely. But what they did was they added me and made me so much that I just went full throttle into the medical and me having to titanium knees been an accident, man Ah, just on and on. CBD is a way of life for me, honey, period.
Sonia Gomez: Man, this is so cool. Okay, so I want to back up because you’re saying so much cool. [inaudible] I’ll dive into because really quick like, first of all California came online 1996 we already know California has been like the mecca of cannabis for ages and ages. Then Colorado came in and tried to take first base and data came in after Oregon and Washington but Nevada gives you like the cannabis community there is off the hook. I mean off the chain but they’re not–
Louis Carideo: There’s nothing like like Vegas.
Getting Involved in the CBD Industry
Sonia Gomez: There is not really any essence of like old Las Vegas or like the veteran vibe. When you’re going into any one of these shops, it’s very millennium. So I want to hear from you like being one of those pioneers in the space and in the movement around cannabis and sort of a target while they were working their shit out. Maybe you want to tell us a little bit of the stories of like, what you were involved, without incriminating, what you what you were involved with and what the response or effective was from the community?
Louis Carideo: Well, the community knows I was done wrong. And the city council that they all know Big Daddy, I’ve been down there many times. In other words, all these people with all the licenses, you know, the cannabis licenses without the holding the licenses right now okay. I was still trying to get into the industry even when I was pushed out of the industry, and they made it out.
Sonia Gomez: How were you pushed out?
Louis Carideo: Well, I’m after I opened up my shop, my [inaudible] here, they gave me a state license and everything I did everything what the state wanted me to do. They decided to close it down. Could have got in big trouble if I didn’t have that state license, okay. But since I had the license, everything was dropped and that gave me a speeding ticket. Basically charged me with it. So, but there was still five years of hell, like yeah, very bad. Like, I can’t even put it into words. Okay. But what happened was is, it pushed me focused on the veterans. I’m a vet. It focused me on the seniors. I fall into that category now. Okay, and then the pets.
So if you were to walk outside The Drip, if I were to take you in front of The Drip right now and showed you the outside of my building, the wrap on The Drip. There are three beautiful big pictures. One is a service guy. One is a dog and a cat. And one is an older couple. Those are three segments that rang home to me, and that’s cat speak. So they’re in just danger are you taking pills. I’m a living witness, baby. I’ll tell you something that’s just backing down and you say CBD, high blood pressure let’s just use high blood pressure as an example. You see how strong I am? Just naturally, I’m just naturally like that.
Sonia Gomez: You’re Latino.
Louis Carideo: That’s it. So I have hypertension. But let me tell you what the doctors when they said I have hypertension, they gave me a drug called Lisinopril. Come to find out if you would have googled Lisinopril and look at the side effects of Lisinopril you might want to call your doctor and just get really mad at him. You follow what I’m saying? like you kidding me? Honey. I took that for 15 years. I could never understand why I was on such a roller coaster. You understand? I haven’t taken high blood pressure pills in over two years. I take 50 CBD. Hold up. Folks, you have to wait one second. Hold on. I’m so sorry.
Sonia Gomez: That’s okay. This is what happens when you’re running over–
Louis Carideo: Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Sorry about that. Go ahead Miss Gomez. Go ahead.
Sonia Gomez: That’s okay. I was just saying this is what happens when you’re running and building an empire.
Louis Carideo: Yeah. So anyways, to make a long story short, bring me back where I was at.
Sonia Gomez: You were you were just explaining like the transformation that you’ve experienced in using CBD.
Louis Carideo: The high blood pressure. Yeah, watch this. I had taken Lisinopril. They prescribed 20 milligram I’ll never forget it. And it was I just put never regulated correctly. I’d be tired for five o’clock in the afternoon. I mean, I was a young guy taking blood pressure pills. No sooner than I took CBD. I haven’t taken blood pressure pills in over two years. When I go to a doctor now. They are shocked. They are shocked. They still prescribe it but I don’t take it. Believe it or not. Yeah.
Sonia Gomez: Wow! So Inside your shop. Are you selling CBD and then I also you have a cool place for folks to hang out too right.
Louis Carideo: All CBD. Yes, I actually wish I could show you. We have, when you come into my shop I have a stage obviously. There’s a like a bar setup with barstools. All the shop has is very high-end CBD, all CBD any type of CBD you could think of eating it, smoking it. And when you come here my specialty is dabbing. dabbing CBD.
Sonia Gomez: Where are you sourcing your products from?
Louis Carideo: From different distributors, just different distributors, but I’m very proud to let you know that I have my own line, my [inaudible] Big Daddy line coming out of products. So I mean like as we speak, this stuff is being done.
Sonia Gomez: So Fine. Yeah, yeah, what’s gonna be in your product suite?
Louis Carideo: Well, since the majority of my family are women. The majority of my fans are women–
Sonia Gomez: You’re going to have tampons. No, I’m just kidding.
Louis Carideo: They probably, I’m sure that Whoopi has that stuff already. Okay. But what I mean by that is I’m geared everything from A to Z. But since my focus a lot of it my fans are female, are skin tight in your body alone, but more geared to the girls, man. You women, take some spend a lot of money and beauty care make yourself look pretty. Guess what? And take the time to rub down lotion in, you understand? Yes, you’re getting that’s good. I don’t know. I try to tell these people they spend all this money. Don’t forget to even predict the CBD. They still spend all that money. Please put it on correctly. I’m far from a pharmacist. But when I got people that coming, especially the women, they asked me how to put the lotion. I try to tell them. Listen, you must do this and you must do that. I don’t care about your feet, Whatever you’re doing it rub the lotion hand folks.
Sonia Gomez: Look at this. Look at this basket of stuff is this right here is like my beauty arsenal. I’m like–
Louis Carideo: Oh my god!
Sonia Gomez: I’m over here like anointing myself. I got things going on my neck. I got things going on my face. I’m like, ooh, I need to keep it fresh
Louis Carideo: [inaudible] too. I’ll let you know the thing about The Drip is though. The vibe here to drip is when you come in here. Anything really goes in other words, by the time you come in here, there’ll be a full set of tables. Remember I said mentioned the CBD of Starbucks. Okay, when you go to thedriplv.com that’s what it looks like when you go to that website. Okay, it looks like a CBD Starbucks type of Wang [inaudible], come back, kick back, relax.
Sonia Gomez: Like I love it.
Louis Carideo: And guess what that’s the vibe and you get here when you come here. [inaudible] They will tell you, anybody that comes in here. And the funny thing is it gets an opportunity to break bread with me here. They definitely, definitely will leave with a story guaranteed.
A Different Kind of Vibe in The Drip
Sonia Gomez: So do you have like other musicians or comics or people that come in? Or are you doing of all the telling?
Louis Carideo: No, no, what happens here is this is, as of right now, I haven’t even put, what I’ve been doing is just bringing having local people come during the stage before they go do their thing. So I let them have a–
Sonia Gomez: Warm-up session.
Louis Carideo: Yes. So what happens, basically, so that you never know who’s going to come here when you’re here who’s going to be on stage, when I’m open. Now when I throw a special event, that’s when I go ahead and blast it out. Joe, this One Susie’s gonna be here, and then be a comic night that night.
Sonia Gomez: Put your bump up on the stage and give them a little rap song.
Louis Carideo: There you go. I’ll let you know something That’s where I’m actually getting. I don’t know, I just caught my vibe right now, at this age right now. I’m not married. I was married 27 years. Now it’s about taking care of myself and enjoying life. You understand?
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, totally.
Louis Carideo: I’m going to do it, man. I’m going to leave. Believe me. I have no problem being the frontman on this deal at all. I’ve been struck so hard already on the negative. That is how this works. Watch this. Miss Gomez has rough is the industry’s been here is how sweet it has been on this side, you understand? So as it’s being hard here, I’m being lifted on this end. So if you can understand what I’m getting at, and I know you do, because you’ve been in the industry for a while. You might think you’ve got everything going on and before something else happens. And then something else happens. It’s just never ending because we’re in a new, it’s a new deal. So–
Sonia Gomez: I say it all the time where it’s self governing industry and we’re making the rules as we go and sometimes what feels most natural to us is the total fuck above the century [inaudible] and give yourself permission to fail forward.
Louis Carideo: And you know, I failed forward you know what some of the best less, I’m going to keep it real some of the best lessons I’ve learned was just that taking a fall brushing my big ass off excuse my language man, and then moving forward do you understand?
The best lessons I've learned were just that taking a fall and brushing my big ass off. - Louis Carideo Click To Tweet
Sonia Gomez: No need to apologize like cuss like a sailor at sea. It’s a problem but hey, you know why I keep it 100% though because honestly like there’s no like way to cookie cut what is laid out here and yet I say like the inevitable challenges that are associated with this industry and yet, it is nothing yet has been big enough to deter me not getting arrested, not you know, being over prescribed by doctors. Not seeing people die in front of I mean, nothing has been big enough to defer me from my mission to really expose the truth about this industry expose the truth about this plant and what it’s capable of, to tell the stories of the people’s lives that are being changed and highlight your guys’s stories.
Louis Carideo: Well, the really funny thing is when I call myself a witness or living witness. Did you see, I have a couple titanium knees. I was next up man, I’ve been broken up a few times. And obviously there’s a huge, huge, huge opiate problem. Obviously, I’m here to tell you as a living witness, does cannabis help or help someone that is addicted? We are get themselves off me take my glasses off. 100% I’m so — That’s why I get so pissed 100%. So when I see people get on the wire or get on the TV and down CBD or down this or down that and you look what’s really going on, and it’s a hard pill to swallow, because guess what? I was one of the ones who was taking opiates. You understand? So I can tell you from the horse’s mouth I’m in the best shape I’ve been in at 60 years damn the same ship I was when I was in the Marine Corps at 60.
Keeping Up with the Challenges in this Space
Sonia Gomez: I love it. I’m like, I’m so enthralled by this interview because it’s like just so super high energy you have so much to share. So I guess one of the things that I want to ask you about is you know, inevitably with the new industries that are you know, that are popping up around cannabis, they’re, you know that you got your weed shops, the world’s largest planet 13. I’ve been all over the place. You know, everything’s bigger and better in Las Vegas including [inaudible] mean, everything. And the experiences now that are popping up all over the place are really cool. For you, what has been the biggest challenges in kick starting your business the way that it looks now? What are some significant challenges that you’re up against?
Louis Carideo: Well, I’m up against people that have no knowledge of the industry. Yeah. Big, big, big, big, big bad bankrolls, monies. And that’s in any industry you have that. But the thing about this industry is these people come out the woodwork. They don’t know shit about nothing. And they’re really are just train on the industry for the great, for the monies. They don’t care about you. They definitely don’t care about big daddy. You understand I’m saying? So I’m trying to get it. That was, I’m not listening. I don’t care about how big Johnny is down the street. I don’t care how big time 13 is, or the big one down there, because there’s only one Big Daddy, there’s only one Drip. And there’s only one experience like that period. And that’s why I try to tell me what, if there’s enough money for everybody in this business, you understand? Especially in this town. There’s only one Vegas, okay, I don’t care, before they just opened up.
When they just opened up, I’m gonna tell you right now, you know, they just have the lounge thing open up here. Okay. Honey, look at me before they ever did that. I was in front of the city council with that law three years ago, trying to get the lounge ready when I got pushed out the first time. So I said since I can’t do that, I’ll go the lounge route. They pushed me out the lounge route. And that’s how I ended up the CBD. So here how this is going to go this year. This is the first phase of three phases. The first phase is the Emporium, Comic Lounge. The second phase of this program here, is the Shatter Spa. You know the Shatter smoke, spa and lounge. You know we have pro sports here. So what you do miss Gomez, you come to the Shatter lounge come in with CBD mud bath. Come get spot.
Sonia Gomez: Now if you’re on a hot spot facilities right there?
Louis Carideo: No, what I’m telling you is, this is the first phase. [inaudible] Yeah, the second phase of this is the Shatter Spa. And the last phase is going to be the consumption lounge on the strip, like literally on the strip that no one has that yet on the strip. But my ass will be the first one on the strip.
Sonia Gomez: And be like big daddies right?
Louis Carideo: No doubt about it. Listen, I have a–
Sonia Gomez: Right next to fat burger.
Louis Carideo: Okay? This is really I don’t even realize how many people watch me have heard me rap about CBD jumping their face talk about CBD. I don’t even realize it. But this let you know, even those young rappers out in Long Beach know of me I follow them, they follow me–
Sonia Gomez: I’m trying to hear you spit something now [inaudible]
Louis Carideo: Check this out, this really just happened. This really happened a couple days ago. And then I’m gonna tell you what’s happening. And you can guess what’s gonna happen the future. Hey, check this out. If you go back on my lives, of some of my lives, I had a rapper called Young Z at the Long Beach okay. Great rapper. He’s related to a very heavy duty rapper. I’m not mentioning any names in that area. Okay, very simple. Put it together. Okay. They came here. The man is a grown guy, Mr. Z, but he brung his mom and dad. They must be all watching. To me on the wire, they came into The Drip to meet me, okay. He brought me some product from Long Beach and so on and so forth, because he’s in the CBD business, okay. And his father is just five years younger than me. And their mom is younger than me. And we’re blown out of the water when they saw me on the wire. And then when they saw me firstly, I got a call yesterday.
He goes, Louis, I want to let you know, you’ve got to put together yourself a team, because you’re doing like 11 jobs and you don’t the only one person. So this is the guy that’s already in the business. Got a lot of money telling me this stuff. Honey, the sooner that I came to my office yesterday, a guy that a distributor that’s also in the entertainment industry because Louis, I told you, I’m gonna bring some people to meet you. He brought a whole production staff here yesterday. And usually to hire a whole production staff. You’d need a lot of big bucks. Okay,
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, it’s like 100K,
Louis Carideo: Guess what? These people saw me I saw the energy and they’re young group of guys that are really talented. You know what they says? We want on board we’re going to grow with you. So guess what? y’all get ready out there, they got big daddy, On Key Big Daddy, Missy Alex my dog, everything’s gonna be everything is gonna be do cartoon animated. It’s the most wildest thing but you’re doing all about The Drip, all about CBD, On Key Big Daddy. It’s the most wildest thing but they’re gonna do I mean–
Sonia Gomez: So fun. Are you gonna get something for me or no?
Louis Carideo: You know what, girl I spit a couple of things. All I do is I skip one line. I must get a one liner. All I do is I preach about my CBD, baby ABC, CBD as simple as 123. And what I do is I’ll put that line where there’s some other stuff that I do, and just spin a beat, and then whatever’s in my head, knowledge wise about CBD I rhyme it to a beat. And what I’ll do is I’ll just spit out CBD information to a rhyme. And that’s how I do it, you know.
Sonia Gomez: Man, I love that. So my alter ego This is almost never relevant.
Louis Carideo: Go ahead.
Sonia Gomez: My alter ego, a few of my followers started calling me Kush Queen because that’s my favorite strain is Kush, I love Kush. So it was not supposed to be anything but like I started to write music and like rhymes all the time. So it’s like, it’s fun because you just got to have fun. That’s the thing is like people take themselves too seriously and you just have to have fun. Now
Louis Carideo: Let me ask you, have you seen, did you ever see the shirts that were made of The Drip?
Sonia Gomez: No.
Louis Carideo: Oh my gosh. Okay, check this out. The people that made Snoop Dogg shirts, really like, I don’t know if I have one here, I’ll have to shoot it to you. But their shirt, my line is on the wire.
Sonia Gomez: I love it.
Louis Carideo: Okay, now on the wire back in my day, if someone mentioned on the wire back in my day, you were probably a mobster being wired by the feds and said that line they used was your being your on the wire. In other words I was just being tapped. You follow me? But now we’re in a different age and generation. I’m still old school right. Let me grab my phone. This is the wire now. Okay. So when I go live, I’m live on the wire, on all the platforms, I rap live on the wire.
So what they did, when they saw that they made shirts of me, literally hanging upside down with these glasses and everything okay. In a cartoon character with my senator foam on the wire. Then they’ve got me one on Golden Gate Bridge. With my inner soup with my hand, it’s a bellick It’s on me. Now this might be a little bit fresh for the audience. So it’s no G rated people here. Then they have me coming out of the womb. Listen to me with a cigar, smoking a cigar. And then it says in caption, All about The Drip because The Drip. But all the shirts are calling The Drip, by the way. So, things are just kind of just snowballing like I can’t even begin to tell you.
Sonia Gomez: I love it. This is like so cool. I’m really excited to follow your journey and see how–
Louis Carideo: You know what Miss Gomez it’s a blessing and an honor to even have you guys reach out to me because I you got this much and what I have to offer and what I have is the truth. I mean nothing but the truth, sure is business.
Key Goals of The Drip
Sonia Gomez: I love it. What are some the key goals that you have for your company right now like beyond the production and all of that stuff, what is the one thing that you want to accomplish with your business that will make you feel like you know what, I made this happen and now I’m a success.
Louis Carideo: Well, this thing is this is I want to go ahead and have The Drip. And I’ve already started doing this a to be known locally, individually and locally. For the CBD, home of Las Vegas, not Sharman. Not all these people that are selling the THC. I’m a strictly CBD place. And I’m going to say this to Miss Gomez, this is saying this really heartfelt too, if I could give this product away, man, I’m going to get emotional now. If I could give this product away, to get my point across, I would do it, if I could do it and live the way I like live. That’s how, that’s the empathy I have for this stuff. And how much we’ve been lied on. People just don’t know. I go to senior centers. Here’s I might share something with you too, because I know you’ve been ready to round this thing up. You got senior centers everywhere. You know how many in Las Vegas, Nevada, you know how many people with money they are owner in this industry that want contracts from these big places, because they’re bribing these people you know that. They see, Hey, I’ll give you this. I’ll give you all the CBD a wine I’ll give you honey when I went there. I got nothing to offer them but my heart.
So when I went there, I’m talking to a big place. Here’s how the heavenly father works, when I went there to meet them Miss Gomez. The lady met me, my first meeting about a month ago. She said to me, Louis, do me a favor. Can you do me a favor, just set up an appointment to come? When I went there and did one meeting with her when I left. She said do me a favor, go downstairs and grab the CVS for him, son, grab the CVS form. I want you to make a copy of it and have your firm make it up like that, and I’m going to give you the whole contract. You know why? Because what she is, I don’t have to bribe her, I wish, she was more dealing with my spirit. She knows I want to help the people. So guess what? They allow me to go into the senior center set my CBG up twice a month there for the old folks. They don’t know when to do that. Nobody, nobody, nobody. The lady goes, we don’t let no one do that our company doesn’t seem allow that. We’re allowing here is to Corideo, Louis I said thank you very much.
Sonia Gomez: Okay Big Daddy. Well you are making moves and making it happen over there.
Louis Carideo: I want to say thank you baby doll.
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, oh man. I this is not the I mean, you haven’t seen the end of me. I’m going to be–
Louis Carideo: Girl. We just we’re going to go on a journey Hemp Revolution and Funky Big Daddy get ready to drip. Yeah, you weren’t. We’re far from done, girl.
Sonia Gomez: We’re gonna be in the club like–
Louis Carideo: Yeah, there you go.
Sonia Gomez: I love it. I come to Vegas all the time. Are you going to have a booth set up at the MJBizCon?
Louis Carideo: I’m not sure I might, now that it’s verb out here like this, some very good possibility.
Sonia Gomez: I mean, I’m not calling you out or anything but I mean, you should be at least advertising some sort of like after party, you know what I’m saying like–
Louis Carideo: Right I will let you know something, we’re going to throw something, I’m just not sure who I’m going to get to host it with me. There’s so many people hosting different events. To have this a regular type of setup is not my style. You know, when I do throw something, you’ll know that was the event via that night, you know I’m saying? It’s just not coming and get your glass of wine and say, Hi take full snapshots. That’s not the party I want to be at.
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, that, you know, I went to a lot of parties, like I thought there was going to be some big with a million followers and why Right, right. Like folks are just like, Oh, hey, come in on my party. I’m like, Okay, cool. Y’all come to your party, and I like get there. And I’m like, Like what the– I cheese right now they are–
Louis Carideo: Right
Sonia Gomez: Here like, y’all just smoked all the weed and now just sleeping on each other like this is some bunk– Where’s it, somebody shake something like–
Louis Carideo: I love it. Hey, I love your vibe, man. I will let you know, a little bit what’s gonna go down here to The Drip is, in the near future is going to be like I want to say an after hours, you forget this is Vegas, you see? So I’m not the regular type of guy. So what happens here is this is, like I’m from a nine to five. We have you know the Emporium right? The stage is always open. You never know who’s going to get up on stage or grab the mic or guitar. Whatever. Okay, but at night, when I throw these like Thirstday-Thursday’s Tincture Tuesdays, Dad and Wednesdays– In other words, people are going to come in. And I’m going to, they’re going to come in for specific reasons. And I’m going to give them a reason to come after hours. Not the regular hours, y’all want to come and get just a little bit more relaxed. You come and visit Big Daddy now.
Sonia Gomez: Come and get loose.
Louis Carideo: Yes, yes. And that’s where that’s why this is going to be the first phase. It’s just going to be a prelude of what’s coming down the road. That’s what it says by the time you get here Miss Gomez, this shop here will even look different than what it is now. Because as we speak, I have tables, new tables coming in to be set up. There’s going to be a popco or a device on every table. So when you come in, even in the daytime, I’m getting hot, I got right now high speed WIFI, high speed coming in. Okay, so people are going to come in, they want to do a little dabbing grab their computer, take a seat. Do a little, high fi WIFI, you know do their shit. That’s cool. Grab a cold pressed organic drink. I think it has like a four hour shelf life once it’s pressed, and it’s the CBD has put in it that no one has this shit. No one does. So I’m going to be the first credit. Yeah, so I’m pretty excited as you can see him a motor mouth.
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, no, I love it.
Louis Carideo: When you think about Larry, you have to guide me because I’m all over everywhere. I’ve got so much going through my mind. I’m like, just like a– like that, you know?
Sonia Gomez: I love it. Well, you can see your passion for this and you can tell that you like really know your environment and who you want to be serving there. And I suppose the final thing that I want to know from you is for folks who are considering getting into this space, and perhaps don’t know exactly what they want to do or how they want to do it, what would be some key pieces of advice that you could offer to folks who are interested and want to get involved in the industry?
Louis Carideo: To get involved in the in the CBD industry or the cannabis industry as a whole?
Sonia Gomez: Yeah, either one.
Louis Carideo: Well, first and foremost, do a little due diligence if you don’t have no knowledge of the plant. That would be the very first to do and that business wise is have a vision. It all starts with a dream. I mean, I’m gonna keep it real I’m not preaching but I am and to a certain extent, it starts with it, it’s baby starts with a dream honey. It did back then and it does right now. This all was a dream. This here before this was manifested like this, it was manifested here in my head, and then just, it played out. I know where it came from to, but I’m just trying to tell you, you follow what I’m getting at.
Sonia Gomez: Yeah.
Louis Carideo: So, and I tell everyone to do the same thing. If you don’t got a passion for this, don’t do it. And he ain’t got a passion for cooking. Don’t open a restaurant baby. Keepin it real. If you can’t, if you don’t like the smell of smoke or weed or whatever your deal is, then get out of this business. If you’re a hypocrite don’t even get into business. Seriously, because this will just sniff your ass out real quick. A real person, a real activist like yourself, I’ll sniff your ass out real good. In other words, when you open your mouth, I got you type of ship. I already know, I could just tell you a check this like you could just like you can feel me the way I’m talking. You’ll know this guy doesn’t get shit about injuries passionate. You can feel me right? So you know exactly what I’m saying. So I speak to someone. That’s what I’m feeling them like that. You follow? Well, and then when people come here, I want them to feel me. I want them to feel that story, you can’t pay for that. You can’t pay for it. It’s an experience, period. That’s why I don’t care how big Johnny is down the street, or Suzy is that way, because there’s only one of me, period.
Sonia Gomez: Get it. So I’ll second that was some–
Louis Carideo: Go, let me hear it girl.
Sonia Gomez: Some like little treasure nuggets, for today’s show. I love what you’re saying, you know, and it’s not too often that I get to mere match with this type of vibe. But I’m going to just flow with it and roll with it. Because I think it’s necessary to say for it, really understanding why you want to do what you’re going to do in this industry is the most important thing, and if you don’t have passion, and if you don’t have purpose, I don’t care how much money you have. This is a tight knit close community of folks who have bled, who are sweating, who are putting everything into this, everything into this thing in some cases like taking food off the table and taking off the calendar so that they can push this thing forward. And the sacrifice is that true pioneers and true passionate people who have like an ultimate purpose that they want to see come realized, are in here fighting every single day.

So take your bankroll and put it towards another venture don’t come in and try and capitalize off of a movement that you don’t really care about. Second, to that is, you know, you have to have the mindset of a millionaire because there are a million ways to make a million dollars. And this is one of them, one of the fastest ways to make cash in this industry. But I’ll tell you that, you know, whilst there are a million ways to make a million dollars, there are 100 million ways to lose it. And if you don’t have real education around how to do what you’re trying to do, the way that you’re trying to do it, mentorship, the proper relationships in this industry, from the very, very roots of this industry. It’s all about who you know, oh my god, a guy I know a guy who has that strain. I know the guy can fill that order. Or I know the one who could let’s be real, like, everything that we’re doing today stems from the black market that served you all back in the day. So don’t snub your nose at it just because big business and the third generation of business owners is coming into this thing, like, keep it real, and keep it roots and do things the way that they’ve always been done. The way that they’ve been done is how you can do business with each other for each other so that we can all flourish as an industry and, at the end-user gets the best product. That’s how we have to be working in collaboration.

So have the mind of collaboration. Don’t try and go at it alone. Knowing what it is that you’re best at so that people can get in line with you and help you bring your vision and dream to life. The final thing that I’ll say is that you have to dream big and love the life that you live. Too many people are making the sacrifices, and they’re bleeding, and they’re sweating, and they’re building cool businesses but at the end of the day, They’re tired, they’re depleted. Their partners aren’t getting what they want. They’re not getting laid anymore, their kids are mad. And like the things that are important in life are like that essence that juice. My dad always says that [inaudible] you have to realize like the real meat of life that gets the passion that it requires to survive in this otherwise crazy, crazy industry. So love the life that you live and live the life that you love, be grateful for every day, and have passion and purpose behind the things you put out. And make sure that while you’re trying to figure out a million ways to make a million dollars that you don’t lose your shit in the means.

Louis Carideo: That’s right. And those are words. Those words ring very, very loud. Not only here, but throughout the industry. So whoever’s listening, please take note. Real serious. There’s a lot of people that lot of money that have nothing to do with the industry. And this industry is a very close knit industry. Even though we’re all located in different places. You’re there and I’m here, but you knew [inaudible] me and I’m over here. I never met you, but today. If you’re from Long Beach same thing. You want to hear some funny Miss Gomez. Yeah, I have got, this is all stemming from the wire and CBD. I have got fans from South Africa, New Zealand, everywhere you could think of all singing about CBD, baby. I’m not kidding you. I’m not kidding you.
To the point where people have made potato chips with my face on it. glasses, shirts, wine glasses. I can just go on on on to the point now I went ahead, we flipped it and we put it on the CBD products. Because that’s where the whole it stems from. I just coincidentally, Louis that everyone thinks this is some figment of everyone’s imagination. I’m a real person, you know? This not a funky Big Daddy. No, he’s a real man. He’s a real person here, you understand? And when they come here, they come here because they don’t know what to expect. They want to know does this guy really have the energy that he shows on the wire? The answer is yes.
Sonia Gomez: He sure does. I must spit something for you just because in the spirit of music [inaudible] some real quick, You say girl how you get so mean? I holla back, baby, I’m the Kush Queen. Dr. Green thumb [inaudible] give me because my booty is so fat in my white jeans, back by childless with the kind because I’m Ruth built the queendom with the strings on my boots. Got some words for these haters that I won’t say. I’ve decided to become a royal J.
Louis Carideo: Oh, sure. Rap baby. Oh shit, man you got to hook up [inaudible] oh no no excuse my language. Oh that was good! Hang on wait a minute cuz we’re live on the wire here too. Now this what you could do since you’re good I heard what you wrote there right you know my handle right? On the wire on key Big Daddy put a choreograph together for me, seriously. I like what you just did. I’m so serious. I’m gonna spin it I swear to God I am. I swear I will
Sonia Gomez: This so funny. I got lines today.
Louis Carideo: Oh, I knew there was more than one reason he’s gonna hook up too.
Sonia Gomez: Oh my god oh my gosh I’m telling you is so fun like I just mess around like with my friends and stuff. And usually I have like a much more structured podcast so this is way more fun.
Louis Carideo: You want to know something? I’m glad it went this way. And I bet you know why. Because it actually, I didn’t know what to expect. Keep it real. I didn’t know if it was gonna be live like this. I don’t know if I should put a shirt on. I don’t know. You know, my dog says daddy, don’t worry about it. Just be yourself dad. I’m a Latin, so I’m a very just like yourself. We’re very hansy talking. That’s how we do things. So I can tell you this will be the first of many.
