It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…which we think is one of the perfect holidays for people who love pot. There’s cookies. And egg nogg. And pretty, twinkling lights. And let us not forget the arsenal of classic Christmas movies we’ve all seen countless times.
Watching festive flicks with friends and family is a holiday tradition for countless people who celebrate the holiday. Here are a few of our favorites…especially to watch while high.
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
A Christmas classic for anyone who grew up in the 80s and 90s. Join the Griswald’s as they set out on a family Christmas adventure that doesn’t disappoint. Chevy Chase is hilarious, and pre-Seinfeld Julia Dryfus doesn’t disappoint either. Juliette Lewis in her prime, making this a 90’s-era Christmas movie you don’t want to miss.
Will Farrell is fabulous as Buddy the oversized elf, and watching this Christmas favorite while high makes Will Farrell even funnier than he already is. Elf was recently rated the number one Christmas family movie, perfect for you to enjoy when home for the holidays or snuggled up at home with a fresh bowl pack of yule tide cheer.
The Polar Express is a computer animated film done so well it’s almost life-like in a creepy, cool kind of way. Perfect for stoners who like to get deep, there’s hidden undertones of self-discovery on one kid’s journey to the North Pole that will inspire child-like wonder in even the biggest bah-humbugs. The special effects that are already awesome only get better with a few hits from the corn cob pipe.
While Bad Santa might not be the best movie to watch with your Grandma, your cool (or creepy) uncle you’re probably sneaking off to smoke pot with anyway is certain to enjoy it. Billy Bob Thorton is drunk cussing criminal with a black midget buddy who pose as Santa and his little helper in this movie that’s become somewhat of a Christmas cult-classic.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton created a masterpiece with this one. And for stoners, it doesn’t get much better than the Nightmare Before Christmas to throw a little spin on the holiday cheer. Halloweentown and Christmastown collide in this tale that mixes light and jolly with some dark and twisted turns.
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Revert to a time of days gone by in this classic Christmas story full of all you favorite childhood characters. For you potheads who are too young to remember Charlie Brown, you’ll thank yourself for watching this timeless holiday flick that explores the commercialization of Christmas and offers a reminder of the true spirit of the holiday season.
